The September 2026 issue of "Helping Children Learn," elementary school edition, offers the following tips for supporting your child's literacy development.

"The Parent Institute," "Parents make the difference!", and " Helping Children Learn" newsletters offer the following Daily Learning Planner tips and ideas for families to use to help children do well in school. Families are encouraged to try a new idea every day.

Eastside Elementary students are selling tickets for eight raffle baskets that will be given away Oct. 8 at Hispanic Heritage Night. Tickets are $1 each. Please fill in all of the information on each ticket, but do not cut the tickets apart. The tickets will be returned to your child's teacher. 

Once your child has finished selling their tickets, or has sold all 10 tickets on the sheet, please send the completed tickets and money to your child's teacher. If you need more tickets to sell, contact your child's teacher. 

The student who sells the most tickets will win a pair of airpods. The class that wins the most tickets will win a pizza party.

The winners will be chosen on Oct. 8 at Hispanic Heritage Night. You do not have to be present to win. 

Join us for a vibrant evening as we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Night! Along with our cultural celebrations, student showcases, and community activities, we will host our Annual Title I Meeting. Because our school receives federal Title I funds, we get extra resources to support your child’s academic journey. During this brief meeting, we will share how these funds are used for extra teachers, learning technology, and tutoring. We will also review your rights as a parent, discuss our School- Parent Compact, and share how we can partner together for student success. Your voice matters to our school community—we can’t wait to celebrate and collaborate with you!

Eastside will have our fall Scholastic book fair Sept. 28 to Oct. 2 in the library. Families are invited to visit with their students. Credit cards are accepted, as well as cash. The book fair will be open throughout the school day that week. On Tuesday, Sept. 29, the book fair will also be open from 3-5 p.m.
